The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is set to undergo a significant price hike in Australia, with a potential jump of up to $4,000. This has many in the US concerned, as the popular SUV could soon become a lot more expensive. While the new RAV4 has been unveiled to journalists, including Carscoops' own Stephen Rivers, Toyota has yet to reveal its pricing strategy for the US market. However, the company has already announced the full lineup and sticker prices for Australia, and the results are eye-watering. The hybrid 2026 RAV4 GX 2WD now starts at AU$45,990, a jump of AU$3,730 or 8.8 percent. The GX AWD rises 9 percent to AU$49,340. As we move up the range, the GXL 2WD and GXL AWD climb 6.9 and 7.2 percent, respectively. Interestingly, not every model has gone up in price. Toyota has actually trimmed the prices of the Edge AWD and XSE AWD by AU$3,020 and AU$5,755, respectively. However, the Cruiser 2WD and Cruiser AWD have jumped to AU$56,990 and AU$60,340, representing increases of about 10.8 percent or nearly AU$6,000. The new RAV4 PHEV is also set to arrive in Australia, starting at AU$58,840 for the XSE 2WD and increasing to AU$66,340 for the all-new GR Sport AWD. So, what does this mean for America? It's too early to say if Toyota will make similar price hikes in the US. If Toyota mirrors Australia's 7 to 11 percent increases, American buyers could be in for an unpleasant surprise. The outgoing 2025 RAV4 starts at $29,800 in the U.S. for the base LE, with the Hybrid lineup beginning at $32,850. If Toyota follows Australia's pricing trend, the 2026 RAV4 could see its entry price climb closer to $35,000. The flagship GR Sport AWD, which is new to the range, could start near $50,000, pitting it against serious competition from the likes of Genesis, BMW, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz. But here's where it gets controversial... Some argue that the price hike is justified due to the new features and technology in the 2026 RAV4. Others believe that the price increase is too steep and that Toyota should offer more value for money. So, what do you think? Will the 2026 RAV4 justify its higher price tag, or will it be a tough sell for American buyers? Let us know in the comments below!
